News: 1 hurt following two-vehicle collision in Linn County

LINN COUNTY, IA - According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, one person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash near Hwy 1 and Cedar River Rd on Monday.

A  69-year-old male was driving a 2017 Chevy Silverado north Hwy 1 when he stopped for a vehicle turning onto Cedar River Rd around 1:07 p.m.

An 82-year-old woman was operating a 2009 BMW sedan when she rear-ended the 69-year-old man. The collision locked the two vehicles together and they came to a rest on the northbound shoulder near the intersection.

Rescue crews transported a passenger from the Silverado, a 69-year-old woman, to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities cited 82-year-old woman with failure to stop at a safe and assured distance.
