News: Man sentenced for fatal auto vs. motorcycle crash in Davenport

DAVENPORT, IA - A man was sentenced on September 22 for a fatal crash that happened at Kimberly Rd and N Fairmount St on May 18, 2022, according to KWQC.

A 41-year-old male was driving a 2015 Dodge Journey west on Kimberly Rd when he turned left on N Fairmount St and struck a 2004 Harley Davidson operated by a 56-year-old male around 8:23 p.m. The motorcyclist died in the collision.

The 41-year-old driver had two OWI convictions at the time of the wreck.

A Scott County jury found the 41-year-old male guilty of operating while under the influence and of homicide by vehicle - operating under the influence in July.

The defendant pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a prescription drug and possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent offense.

A judge sentenced the defendant to 25 years in prison with credit on his sentence for time spent in jail. He was also ordered to pay $150,000 to the estate of the man he killed. The defendant's license was suspended for six years.
