ELDRIDGE, IA - Emergency crews were called to the scene of an apartment fire on the 500 block of West Valley Dr on Wednesday, according to KWQC.
First responders arrived at the scene around 8:25 a.m. and observed smoke coming from the structure.
Initial reports said there were people still in the building. Firefighters began searching the building to make sure nobody was left inside it.
Crews put out the fire. It was contained to one unit, but smoke damaged the entire building.
The fire displaced 15 tenants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
