News: Wrong-way driver collides with vehicle near Capitol East

DES MOINES, IA - Two people were hurt in a wrong-way collision on I-235 between E 14th St and E University Blvd on Friday, according to We Are Iowa.

A 20-year-old woman was driving on Easton Blvd when she entered I-235 and drove west in the eastbound lanes of traffic until she collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old man around 5:30 a.m.

Debris from the crash struck a third vehicle.

Rescue crews transported the 20-year-old woman and the second driver to an area hospital. The 20-year-old woman was treated and released. The 35-year-old man is still in the hospital.

Authorities charged the 20-year-old woman with Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle - OWI, Driving Wrong Way on a One Way Roadway, and Unlawful Use of Driver's License.
